616 negative, this photo shows an attentive mother doting over her baby
child. The mother is a young Hazel Rattenne and according to Mike Rattenne
III, "The little girl kneeling is got to be Jerry; she looks to be 4 or
maybe 5. There was only a year and a half between Jean and I; so the little
baby has to be Jim."
If that's so then this photo was taken in 1933 or early 1934, probably in Leeds, Iowa. Youngest child Jim was born on July 6, 1933 and in this photo the baby does not look to be more than six to nine months old. |
