Spring is in the air on February 26, 1996 as Amtrak tests yet another Talgo trainset in San Joaquin service.  The low-slung Spanish-built Talgo cars will demonstrate their worth in only a few locations along BNSF's Stockton Subdivision. While train speeds of 79mph are allowed over much of the route to Bakersfield, there are few curves on the line that will give the equipment a work out.
