GP40 Roster Summary GP40 Detailed Roster GP40s to WC Diesel Classes Roster Sources WP Pages ![]() WP GP40-2 3557 is ready to depart Oroville, CA. in July of 1980. (Ken Rattenne) |
Compiled By Ken Rattenne This roster was originally compiled as part of the disposition roster for the second volume of my book "The Feather River Route, Volume II." The roster was updated in 1994 during preparation of an article on WP's GP40 fleet for Pacific RailNews magazine but was not included by the publisher when that monograph saw print in April of 1996. As this is updated in February of 2011 much has happened to the fleet. Union Pacific still has possesion of the GP40-2s but the balance of the GP40s have scattered to the winds. Included is a roster of units picked up by the late, great Wisconsin Central, but since that road has been absorbed I do not currently have a disposition of the unts held by the company at merger time. |
